We're Here To Help!

Text messaging is both powerful and easily abused. That’s why the government and wireless carriers have regulations and trade organizations like the TCPA and CTIA that provide guidance for text and mobile marketers. These help you understand who you can send messages to, when, and what the content can be. Unlike many of our competitors, iZigg Mobile takes compliance very seriously, to ensure our clients’ long codes and short codes do not get restricted and avoid service interruptions. Our team is standing by to help you craft compliant messages and campaigns.

Who Can You Send Messages To?

TCPA and CTIA regulations mandate that all text messaging contacts be collected with expressed consent. This prohibits purchasing lists, borrowing numbers between brands, or gathering random or recycled numbers. If you have a list of contacts who have previously opted-in, opt-in must be affirmed before you import into our system. iZigg may ask you to complete a one-time Import Certification prior to uploading your list.

When Can You Send Messages?

For most use cases, federal regulations prohibit marketers from sending promotional or sales-related text messages before 8:00 AM and after 9:00 PM in a contact’s local time zone. However, there are exceptions other use cases, such as event and appointment reminders, or scheduled alerts where a different time window is defined at opt-in. If you need to send text messages before 8:00 AM or after 9:00 PM, please contact support.

What Content Can You Send?

The Cellular Telephone Industries Association (CTIA) requires disclosure of content type, messaging frequency, and a “message and data rates may apply” disclaimer.

The CTIA prohibits the following types of message content:

  • Profanity
  • Obscenity / Adult
  • Violence / Hate
  • Weapons
  • Drugs / Alcohol
  • Gambling

Certain content requires a dedicated short code or dedicated toll-free long code:

  • Financial Offers
  • Loans
  • Work From Home
  • Credit Card Offers
  • Mortgage Refinancing
  • Text-To-Win Sweepstakes

And as always, if you have any questions on what’s compliant or not, don’t hesitate to contact the amazing iZigg Mobile support team. We are happy to answer your questions and help you work within federal and industry guidelines.
